I am referring to astrology, but most of what I am saying is natural law, known and used in many traditions.
Earth is dense, heavy, palpable, property, authority, bodyweight, resources, fertile, food and feeding, beauty and nature. Earth is slow and thoughtful. What you see is what you get. It comes in many forms and combinations: clay, humus, rocks, stones, crystals and minerals. Earth is our mother as well as our body. We are not only living on earth, we are earth, earthlings. This is our home and we are fully part of it. All a human being is, can be found in earth and so much more. She is very patient, but sometimes enough is enough!
The earth element is feminine, fertile, nourishing, establishment. Building up brick by brick, establishing long term relationships of trust and warmth and become our own authority. The desire to create, be of service, build and add-on. We want to built up wealth and knowledge and base ourselves on our resources, our wealth and our personal power.
The first earth element is Taurus. Taurus fixes, holds on to what Aries created. The taurus nature wants to own and built-up wealth, hold on to money and beauty and all this in a steady and thorough way. He prefers to be solitary rather than be in a chit-chatting crowd, even if he knows very well how to connect with others, the other will be carefully selected. Everything in life has a value and needs to be valued, stored and kept for later use. All resources are used to own and to multiply. Wealth and importance might also be expressed in body weight. Guided by Venus he has a strong desire for good food, good life and beauty.
The second earth element in the chart is Virgo. Virgo is the analytical mind, analyses and compares and can be very critical as a result of this. Here, the mind is in service of the self and of others. What we do has to make sense for ourselves and for others. Being in service is not sacrifice. There is not much room for misunderstanding. A sharp analytical mind in itself is in service of creation, of health and all activity it is involved in. The ultimate status of being in service is when you let great spirit work through you and you are the vessel of fulfilling the course of life, without judging, without suffering and without attachment. Let the flow of light come through you unhindered and unquestioned.
The third earth element in the chart is Capricorn. Capricorn is where we want to become an authority, it is serious and task oriented. We build a career, a structure in life, get a distinction, be responsible and want to become. Here you name all the earthly attributes that we name when we are asked what we are doing. We respond with our occupation and our achievements – usually. Capricorn is not showing off, it is true and thorough work, creating a base to build on, creating a healthy and strong body. Where we have Capricorn in our chart, we get serious, profound, we do not allow ourselves to be shallow and superficial, we want to become an authority. We can see in the sign, placement in the chart and its transits how we respond to authority and responsibility.
The earth energy is warm and fertile. It might be slow but it is steady growth. We seed, nourish and harvest, we accept the cycles of life.
Some of us tend to be highly spiritual and forget that we are in a body and chose to live life on Mother Earth. So, grow your roots into our mother earth, feel her stability, her fertility and her wonderful warm body, her loving energy and from there, grow deep into the universe. If you are well grounded, you can really stretch out and connect with the upper world. If you would have chosen to be a pure light being, you probably would have been born on the Pleiades, not on Earth. There is no mistake possible. Pleiades – maybe next time round!
